What is a Munch?

A munch is a public gathering of people who share a common interest in BDSM, D/s, fetish or other alternative lifestyle. The first munch was in Palo Alto California, in 1992 in a burger restaurant, thus named the Burgermunch. The idea was for people to get together in person, eat and chat. The idea caught on and now cities across the country have munches.

You do not need to be a member of the lifestyle community to attend a munch gathering, however, you should keep an open mind to the alternative lifestyle. The munch is a place where people who have an interest in BDSM, D/s or an alternative lifestyle can get together without fear and talk about the lifestyle. Most either practice BDSM in their daily lives or use it to improve their sex lives. The gatherings are social for those of similar interest to meet and greet in a nonthreatening public atmosphere. There is usually no formal protocol, it is a place to meet, plan events and have a friendly social get together. We extend a warm welcome to those new to the lifestyle

The munch meeting is not a dating service or a place for an easy pick up. It is not necessary to know protocol, history or have a letter of introduction.
